Sultanat Bibi's Story

For a long time, Sultanat Bibi, a 68-year-old woman from Swat, lived with pain and swelling in her right knee. As the condition progressed, daily tasks became increasingly difficult. Walking short distances, standing for extended periods, and carrying out household activities were difficult for her. The loss of mobility gradually affected her independence and quality of life. Determined to find relief, Sultanat consulted a doctor for a thorough evaluation. After clinical examinations and diagnostic investigations, she was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis of the right knee. The condition had caused significant wear and tear of the joint, resulting in pain, stiffness, and reduced movement. To relieve her symptoms, the doctor recommended a right-sided Total Knee Replacement (TKR).

Sultanat’s son is the sole breadwinner of the household. In addition to supporting his wife and two school-going children, he is also responsible for the care of his father, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease and requires medical attention. With multiple responsibilities and limited income, arranging money for Sultanat’s surgery was not possible. Looking for a solution, they contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help. After listening to her concerns, we registered her case.

On April 13, 2026, Sultanat was admitted to the Zia Darman Hospital in Mardan. Her right-sided Total Knee Replacement was successfully performed by Dr. Aimen Zia. The procedure restored the function of her damaged knee joint and was completed without complications. Following post-operative care, she was discharged in stable condition on April 16, 2026.

Sultanat expressed her heartfelt gratitude as follows:

“The pain in my knee had made even routine tasks difficult. I worried that my condition would continue to worsen. Today, I feel relieved and hopeful. This surgery has restored hope in my life. I am thankful to you for helping me during my challenging time.”

The surgery marked a new beginning for Sultanat. As she continues her recovery, she is regaining strength with each passing day.

Her family extended their deepest gratitude to you for ensuring her recovery from Osteoarthritis.
