You Will Be Remembered for Supporting Idrees’s Cholecystectomy
Muhammad Idrees's Story
Muhammad Idrees, a 47-year-old man from Naushahro Feroze, had been suffering from pain in the upper right side of his abdomen for nearly four years. Along with the pain, he frequently experienced nausea and indigestion, particularly after meals. These symptoms gradually became more severe, affecting his comfort and making daily life increasingly difficult. He visited a hospital for a medical evaluation. Following a detailed examination and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with Cholelithiasis (Gallstones), a condition caused by hardened deposits forming inside the gallbladder. To treat this issue, the doctor recommended laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Life had already presented many challenges for Idrees. He is visually impaired and unable to work due to his disability and declining health.
He belongs to a large family of thirteen siblings, several of whom also suffer from visual impairment caused by a hereditary eye disease. As an unmarried man with no personal income, Idrees depends entirely on his brother. He is a daily wage laborer who earns between PKR 20,000 and 25,000 per month. The family lives in a mud house with limited facilities and struggles to meet even their basic needs. In such circumstances, arranging the cost of surgery was beyond their reach. Hoping to find a way forward, he contacted Transparent Hands and explained his situation. Recognizing his need for treatment, we registered his case.
On April 14, 2026, Idrees was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. His laparoscopic cholecystectomy was successfully performed by Dr. Aftab Ahmed Soomro on April 15, 2026. The procedure removed the gallbladder containing the gallstones that had been causing years of pain and digestive discomfort. After receiving post-operative care, Idrees recovered satisfactorily and was discharged in stable condition on April 16, 2026.
Reflecting on the relief he feels after the surgery, Idrees shared:
“Living with constant pain was exhausting, especially because I already face difficulties due to my visual impairment. Today, I feel much better and more comfortable than I have in years. I am grateful for your support that helped me receive this surgery.”
The successful treatment has brought comfort and relief to Idrees after years of suffering.
He is thankful to you for helping him during a challenging time.
